That's wow's wheelhouse imo. the issue is that the other stuff that's tacked on in retail became too large of an emphasis over time and it detracts from the stuff i like. but i'm just one guy. so to answer your question, no, retail isn't bad. but it could be better, and i think it will be with dragonflight.

Give classic a try if you want, it's already included in your subscription. but two describe the difference in one sentence: in classic, leveling is hard and end game is easy, in retail leveling is easy and end game is hard. retail also simply has much more content to do since it's all wow content, not limited to just the original game or first. As someone who played the classic relaunch has his first ever wow experience and then went to retail, my advise is retail. much easier to level and travel with mounts easier to make money and overall more enjoyable. i’d say retail. much easier to get into as a new player than classic. also more qol features.

Both have their unique charms that make them great choices. no one can definitively say that one is better than the other. wow retail is about the destination, the end game. wow classic is about. So i am a person who really hates retail wow and what it has become. i could go over with a fine comb of the individual things i like or dislike, and tell blizz why i believe they are good or bad, but at this point it seems a lost cause, and i can just go to classic for a game i like. thanks blizz. but why do you love retail wow so much? what really makes it better than classic? i want to.
