Unwound Unwound Review By Scooptime Album Of The Year
Unwound Unwound Review By Scooptime Album Of The Year For being unwound's second ever release this honestly isn't that bad. sure it is extremely short and a bit uncoordinated on what it wants to be, but like there is only 3 songs here, did you really expect this to be the masterpiece in this. Unwound has been a band on my radar for quite some time, and one i have wanted to check out since about march or april of this year. thankfully i am finally now getting around to it, and will also be checking out this band's entire discography and seeing just what is so special about this niche 90s band.
Unwound Unwound Review By Scooptime Album Of The Year Yes it is an expanded version of unwound's self titled ep, but you would be totally geeking if you said these versions didn't blow the originals out of the water. also the 7 extra songs here help add a lot more of a cohesive sound and style that just wasn't very prevalent on a 3 song ep barely reaching 10 minutes in total length. They eventually recruited sara lund as the new drummer and, after recording and releasing three other albums, finished mastering unwound and released it in 1995. unwound is hands down the band's most punk oriented record, and also their shortest, clocking in at 28 minutes. the instrumentation on this record is much more simplistic compared to. Unwound’s debut is then at their most raw, furious, and energetic. however, it can really feel like it’s all bark and no bite as it lacks any impactful or memorable moments imo. it’s a decent enough hardcore record but unwound can do far better. what is up with aoty never taking some kid ass punk music as seriously as they should. unwound. Unwound’s albums are about feelings of alienation and angst being filtered through noise experimentation, and if this is not your cup of tea then of course you will not enjoy leaves. the only detriment to the album is that “one lick less” kills the pacing a bit and is by far the weakest track. leaves turn inside you is a damn near perfect.

It is one of the great joys in being a music fan. unwound was an post hardcore band from washington. they were formed in 1988 and disbanded in 2002. i would describe their sound as shoegaze, post rock with hints of hardcore . leaves turn inside you was their 7th and final album. the album is full of these fuzzy restrained punk rock moments. This super short 25 minute set from unwound in reykjavik, iceland is surprisingly one of their better live releases but still struggles from a lot of the same things pointed out on their studio albums. i know i have said this for nearly every review from this band, but where is the "oomph" in their music.
