The left and right side flaps are connected by a simple tie bar on the front side of the shroud so that they open and close together. the right side flap provides a rod that extends down between the fins in the 1 2 head where the thermostat is located. the flaps and related hardware are getting harder to find. I need to purchase the thermostat, bracket and thermostat rod. it looks and feels like all the flaps, spring and linkages are present up above. i have a question about where the rod goes through the number 1 and 2 cylinders. there is a small tin mounted on the cooling fins down below where the thermostat mounts on the case. Here's a quick diy: 1: disconnect the positive terminal on the battery. (10mm wrench or socket) 2: remove the two bolts holding the alternator in (15mm socket iirc, could be 13mm). 3: remove the wires on the alternator (8mm socket, 13mm socket). 4: drain your coolant (under the driver's foglight, there's a spigot, pull out, turn to the left.
