Assuming you're sat on the broom looking at the ground, pulling the broom towards you will lift you. use tab to recenter your view, scroll to change speed, mouse to change your direction, and right click to slide your flight angle around the screen. it's pretty janky but you can get used to it. pushing the broom too far from you will let it go.

In the well at the house starting place there is a broom. if you get down into the well via jump crouch the broom is there. it gives you the option to ride it. only does it start flying when you press the hold button on in when you are sitting on it. it also spawns as a random item that you can find in the world. Flying with the broomstick. not sure if anybody knew or if it was in the notes anywhere, but i found a broomstick that when you sit on it, you can fly around the map. it is located right at the beginning in the well by the garage house. pick it up and sit on it to activate and fly around. takes a little while to get used but cool little add on.
