The k20 head is swapped onto k24's to gain 3lobe vtec. first gen k24's have 2 lobe vtec and vtec only on intake not exhaust. the k24a2 is the only k24 that already has a 3lobe head and vtec on intake and exhaust just like k20a2 or z1. the base rsx head is just like the base k24's. k24a2 doesn't need a k20 head. Case in point, this is the third honda k24 motor that’s resided in the engine bay of david’s s15 silvia since the build began. the first engine dropped a valve not long after completion. it was a standard valve train, these things can happen, so david decided to go bigger with the second motor. perhaps he went a bit too big with this second.
