Poetry Open Mic Queer Pride Edition Whether you’re a proud poet or a supportive spectator, enjoy a fabulous evening of performance prose at our lgbti friendly space at southport library. join us on wednesday 14 september for our rainbow open mic poetry night hosted by brisbane based performance poet tony norris. We established the gold coast pride festival in 2021 from a standing start and have grown it to become the city’s biggest and best queer event. we are a passionately grassroots, not for profit, community based and volunteer run organisation, committed to organising and advocating for our community. He is the author of the place of scraps (winner of the dorothy livesay poetry prize), un inhabited, and injun (winner of the griffin poetry prize). nishga won both the hubert evans non fiction prize and the vmi betsy warland between genres award, and was a finalist for the hilary weston writers’ trust prize for nonfiction, the wilfrid. Willing a rainbow to fly is an open mic for poets of queerness and disability to be heard during a politicized time of erasure. the open mic will follow the featured performances. there is a 5 minute time limit per reader. we are open to all styles of spoken word performances.
