Op Art From Our 7th Graders The Woodland Middle School Art Department Mrs. hennington, or mrs. h as the students call her, is thrilled to head the visual arts program at woodland middle school. our program is the only one of it's kind in bartow county as students are able to study art throughout the entirety of the school year rather than the typical 9 week middle school connections rotation. our students explore. This year, the woodland middle school at euharlee art show at the euharlee welcome center and history museum is aptly named “mind over matter: resilience through art” and boy, did the students show their resilience in a difficult year! come see our show 2 25 4 15. hours of operation listed below.
Op Art From Our 7th Graders The Woodland Middle School Art Department Op art, short for optical art, is an abstract art movement that uses lines, rhythm and movement to create optical illusions. these artworks often look like they are moving, blurring or coming alive. sometimes what you first see morphs completely into something else. op art can look surprisingly simple like this study: or insanely complicated. On days 1 and 2: students were introduced to various op art by artists victor vasarely and bridget riley, and learned what op art was (optical illusion art) with a quick slideshow of work. six straight lines that intersect at the same spot, were drawn ahead of time on 80# 10×10″ paper for each student with a ruler; creating 12 “slices. 7th grade ~ op art lesson. after a discussion about patterns, this is the worksheet i start them with. example. from here, they select one of the patterns (2x2, 3x3, or 4x4) and complete their design on either graph paper, or pre printed paper as shown below. once finished, we cut them out, glue them on black construction paper, and laminate them.
