Diy Coolant Flush Vw Tdi Alh Engine Apr 4, 2024. #1. hi everyone, i’m in need of some guidance regarding a coolant and engine flush for my 2014 passat tdi (132k miles). recently, i took my car to an independent shop due to a coolant leak, and during the diagnosis, it was discovered that there’s oil in the coolant reservoir. it seems i also have a potentially leaking oil. Simple things first: coolant exits the head on the transmission end of the engine via a coolant flange with three exit nipples. 1. bottom nipple (smallest) goes to the oil cooler, 2. straight away nipple (medium size) goes to the egr cooler and, 3. the largest nipple goes to the big hose to the top of the radiator. Remove lower rad hose, put a garden hose inside the lower rad hose to the block and run it until the water coming out of the rad is clean. drain as much of the water as possible. fill with coolant 50 50 mix with water (some water still may be in the engine) add coolant water as necessary. coolant flush complete. Re: coolant flush on tdi (speedr) there is a bleed nipple by the upper coolant hose and the thermostat i think. i wouldn't waste your time with it though. just get an empty milk jug or whatever and mix your 60 40 ratio in there. pour it in the coolant overflow bottle which will fill the radiator. start the car and turn the temp control to full hot.
