Diaper Cake Assembly Roll one diaper up and secure it with a small rubber band. repeat for all of the diapers. place a heavy bottle of baby lotion or shampoo in the center of your cake base. you can also use an empty paper towel or wrapping paper tube. begin making a layer of rolled up diapers all the way around the bottle. Materials: directions: to begin, start fanning the pampers along the perimeter of one of the cake pans as shown above. i spaced mine about 2″ apart to create a ruffled effect. continue until you’ve circled around the entire perimeter of the cake pan and then tuck the final diaper behind the first one.
Diaper Cake Assembly Step 3: position the diapers. for a roll up diaper cake, position the rolls vertically and close together until you’ve reached the size you want for the base tier. secure the rolls in place with an extra large rubber band or ribbon. if you’re using a rubber band, you can cover it with ribbon later on. Roll up 50 75 diapers and put a rubber band around each one. arrange about half of the diapers in a circle around a center support, like a paper towel roll. secure the bottom tier with rubber band or string. repeat the process twice more to create 3 tiers, making each tier slightly smaller than the one below it. Cut out circles from cardboard (approximately 11.5″ and 8.5″ in diameter, the top layer does not require a base unless you want one). you can use various size mixing bowls or buckets to get the right sizes. hot glue the paper towel roll to the cardboard base. align ~34 diapers in a circle around the paper towel roll. Fold the cut tulle in half as shown in fig.7. i then inserted the folded part inside the elastic band and tied the tulle as shown in fig.8, repeat that part with the rest of the tulle pieces to finish the tutu. you need to create a pattern when adding the tulle. i used 2 pink, 2 lilac and 1 gold as shown in fig.9.

Repeat until all diapers are rolled. place your baby lotion in the center of the cake stand and make a ring around it with rolled diapers. place a large rubber band around the diapers to create your base. add another layer of diapers around the first layer with another large rubber band to secure the final bottom layer. Assemble the cake. begin the base layer by encircling the cardboard tube with 6 diapers. wrap a rubber band around the diapers. when placing the diapers, make sure you point the end of the rolled up diaper toward the center so the roundest, most seamless part of the diaper is showing on the outside.
