The connie suffers from being one of the earliest ships. it suffers more than the freelancer and hornet due to it's design and size. it looks excellent on paper, but the execution in game doesn't quite live up to it esp. with the interior. i upgraded to the connie from a 300i and it then became an upgrade to the carrack. The connie and corsair simply can't escape a determined opponent whereas most of the time the 400i will be faster (it can outrun an arrow, a mantis, a vanguard sentinel, etc.). it's too early to know exactly how to balance speed vs durability but if you have a particular play style, maybe you already know which side of that coin you prefer.
