Classic Appalachian Mountain Scene Smoky Mountains Tennessee Brady A classic smoky mountain photograph… the layers of the mountain ridges display a variety of colors. this image was captured from clingman’s dome, 6000 feet above sea level. notice how the horizon line blends with the mountain ridges to create warm and cold color harmony. I’ve photographed in the smoky mountains of east tennessee on a bunch of occasions. one scene that eluded me because of conditions or time was that classic rippled appalachian mountain scene at sunset. this past october, i made an extra effort to capture that scene while shooting from the highest point in the park, clingman’s dome.
