So my suspicion is that the 2500k, especially when oc'd, still has a few years before it becomes truly unusable. upgraded this fall from a i5 2500 to ryzen 3600, night and day difference. it would take about 10 minutes from reboot to being ready to do work. now it is 8 seconds. Both the i7 4790 and i7 2600 are 4c 8t cpus, op has a 4c 4t cpu, that doesn't really apply to him. the 1080ti can easily pull more than 60fps on most games at 1440p, on the other hand the i5 just can't, 4c 4t is cutting it short, i speak from personal experience (had a i5 4590 which should be somewhat better but still 4c 4t and still couldn't achieve 60fps in many games due to cpu being at 100.
