Bascombe S Travelblogue June 2014 Historic Temple Square Salt Lake Temple square is not only the geographic center of salt lake city it is also the heart of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints. the mormons arrived here on july 24, 1847, led by church president brigham young, after being forced away from the east coast by their religious believes. within 4 days brigham young has chosen the site for. Free tours of the grounds, conference center, and historical residences are available in over 40 languages, and you can make your visit to temple square a complete historical journey with the pioneer history walking tour. the salt lake temple is regarded by the church of jesus christ of latter day saints as sacred and is not open for tours. Wander through temple square, a 10 acre refuge with magnificently landscaped grounds surrounding the salt lake temple. experienced representatives will take you on a complimentary tour of temple square (available in 40 languages), including the tabernacle, the assembly hall, two visitors’ centers, and the beautiful flower gardens and statuary.
