Amy Lay Mountain Trails Gallery Lay is inspired by her experiences of growing up in the shadow of the eagle cap wilderness of northeastern oregon. it was here that amy developed an intimate love and fascination for the animals and wildlife on the ranch that her family has lived on for five generations. primarily self taught but grateful for her art degree from eastern oregon. Vibrancy, a sense of looseness and a comfortable nontraditional style are all ways in which amy’s paintings have been described. residing in and drawing inspiration from mountain hideaways in wyoming and the wallowa mountains of northeastern oregon, amy fosters an intimate love and fascination for the animals, wildlife and ecology surrounding her.

It is contemporary, it is loose and heavily dependent upon pencil and charcoal lines that provide movement and a raw sketch like feel that is still visible within an oil wash and heavier oil layers. my subjects are emotional, intelligently wild and rendered from experience more that photo reference. my style evokes the raw feel of an ephemeral.
