Too low of oil temps are just as bad or worse then too high. the ideal oil temps should be around ~190 210f iirc. if the temps get too high with the stock t stat then you have an issue in the cooling system someplace or you are simply overrunning it. don't bandaid the issue with the t stat. Started the engine up to burp as much as the air out of the cooling system as possible before buttoning up the radiator cap. did a quick inspection fer any leaks before taking the truck out fer a test drive. results were astonishing! with ambient temps in the low 90's, my running coolant temps were back in the 185 188 degrees f!!.
