2022 Burn Morel Mushroom Maps Are Available Now Idaho seems to be a perennial hot spot for burn morels. 2022 is no different with 10 “a” rated fires across 100,000 acres. wyoming only has 1 “a” rated fires this year totaling 7500 acres. new mexico has 2 “a” rated fires this year. utah has 1 “a” rated fire this year. montana is on the map big time with 11 “a” rated fires. New map tech has allowed us to add a few very cool new features on a and b rated fires – burn morel prediction maps and burn severity maps for 2024 are ready now! we created an algorithm that uses terrain data such as tree cover, tree type, elevation, and aspect, to predict where burn morels are most likely to be fruiting within each fire.
